Come Away to a Quiet Place and Rest Awhile ~ Christian Retreats with Intensive Counseling

Wives World ~ Overwhelmed

Overwhelmed is a word I hear a lot from women.  Overwhelmed is a tough place to be.  Because life can be overwhelming as it throws its daily challenges and pressures at us sometimes we can just be too full, too done to go on.  I am amazed at how strong women are and how much it takes to reach this place of “overwhelmed.”  Yet, eventually, life hands us just one more thing and there we are …overwhelmed with no where to go.

Being overwhelmed consistently in our lifestyle is an unhealthy place to be.  Most of the time, we are given no choice but to try and manage all the negatives coming our way.  Things come and we deal.

I would encourage any of you who are forced to be overwhelmed on a consistent basis, that you simply must carve out some time everyday …it sounds opposite, but you simply MUST set the alarm a half hour earlier.  In the still morning hours, grab a cup of coffee or tea and have your daily meeting with the Captain of your soul.  Pulling apart and pouring your heart out to Jesus is the only way to survive an overwhelming life.  He is available, but He’s a gentleman.  You are the one who has to make the appointment with Him.  Going to Him daily with your pain and challenges is the only answer, the only way you will survive the overwhelming things coming at you.

I found a few word pictures of feeling overwhelmed.  I hope this encourages you today.

“…surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach me.  You are my hiding place; You will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.”  Psalm 32:6

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze…”  Isaiah 43:2
