Wives World ~ Don’t Make New Year’s Resolutions!

Did you know that it is a proven fact that most resolutions made at the beginning of a new year are out of your mind and life by the end of January?  Resolutions are just wishes if you don’t write them down and commit them to prayer.  Every year at the beginning of the year, I take time to sit down and re-evaluate every are of my life.  With this evaluation, I list out my goals that I would like to achieve in each area.  Then I write out the realistic obstacles.  I laugh at this column on my sheet because there seems to always be a pattern.  In general the obstacles for achieving my goals are either in the category of “time” or “money.”

Lastly, I find a scripture to pray over the situation.  So my goal sheet for the year looks a little like the example below. (simplified version of course!)   You would tweek yours to meet your specific situation.

Area of Goal:

Obstacles:                                                        Scripture:

Mental-  take a class

 Time                                                              “Renew your mind….”

Emotional-

process emotions/don’t stuff

Too scary and hard to do                       “Cast your burdens….”

Spiritual- 45 minute quiet time each am

Time/ too hard when busy                     ” Come away….”

Physical-

eat healthy/ exercise

Too lazy                                                          ” My body is a temple …”

Relationships- Reconnect with friend

 Forgiveness required                                  “Forgive others….”

Writing down your goals, realizing the challenges and commiting them to prayer and praying scripture over the situation is an awesome way to invoke change in your life.  Making resolutions???  Don’t waste your time!  They will be out of your head before you know it.
