“I realized when I was in church last week I was feeling trapped, vulnerable and anxious.” Can you imagine the place that we go to be with God and worship Him and all His ways is the one place that brings us down the most.
More and more as I work with Christian women, ministry leaders and pastors’ wives I see that this is a truth that bears revealing. Somehow the trauma of the pain and hurt of ministry work rears its head and disrupts the very place that God wants us to go for healing.
This is a little bit like going to the abuser for comfort. Hence my mantra that the Body of Christ simply must receive healing from trauma. Whether the trauma was brought on us by our family of origins or abusive people in our past, or whether the trauma is from ministry work, it is the trauma triggers that are separating God’s people from the Source of their peace.
