There’s a real sense with the women I work with that they’ve run away. They are away from the world for one whole week. They’ve packed their bags and they are outa there. It’s a great feeling to be away from the problems of your life. Trust me, I know. I did it myself once. Just like one of my clients, I too, put a sleeping bag, blanket and pillow in my car and parked my car in various locations…parks mostly…and sat and slept and cried.
Sometimes you just have to get away from it all to get a new perspective.
What are women running away from? Disappointments. Lost dreams. Impossible situations. Impossible relationships. Impossibilities of all sorts. No doubt about it, life is hard and encompasses so many impossibilities. When the impossibilities overwhelm us and become our focus things start becoming even more impossible.
It is great to be able to get away to gain new perspective. To find out where we, ourselves, our spirits, our souls, our bodies….where did we go? And the biggest question of all, “where do I go, to get away from myself?” These are hard questions and hard places to be.
Focusing on the possibilities instead of the impossibilities is the start of new beginnings. We sometimes have to start AT the beginning to get to the new beginnings. That beginning place is finding our place in Christ. Finding the ONE who will never disappoint us, never leave us and never forsake us. Finding HIM and getting HIM back is the beginning to getting our lives back. Trust me, I know. I myself have been at this place of starting over.
